Fechan Sram
The Fechrin Sram festival derives its name from the Helani language, where it translates to "Farmer Market."
Occurring annually on the 35th day of Saienaend, the third month after farmers have completed sowing seeds and harvested their produce, this event marks a pivotal time when farmers gather to showcase and sell their stored or fermented goods. The festival takes place at the local Chad temples in each province and at the capital of Virtuous.
Unlike grandiose celebrations, Fechan Sram focuses primarily on the agricultural bounty cultivated by hardworking farmers. It offers them a platform to swiftly sell their goods and generate much-needed income after enduring the challenges of the winter season. However, it's not limited solely to farmers; the festival warmly welcomes hunters, artisans, and other participants to display and sell their craft.
In an effort to accommodate the festival, usual services provided by the Chad temples are temporarily suspended. While in rare instances, the temples might remain operational to aid those in dire need, the primary focus shifts toward fostering the vibrant marketplace.
A distinctive and cherished tradition during Fechan Sram revolves around a freely roaming ram that navigates the bustling market. Carrying a sack intended for tips, the ram becomes a symbol of communal generosity. Historically, these donations once contributed to funding the military during the reign of the Helman Council. However, with the ascent of the Shesire Sovereignty, the direction of these contributions has been redirected towards supporting the Chad temples themselves, ensuring their sustained operations.
