Guide to Mirran
Blessed reader, I am a scholar by the name of Matine Lembre Barli. I am a Mirran by blood and lived in many of the mirran countries throughout my life. I have chosen to write this depiction of my kind so the other races of the world may come to a greater understanding of the unmatched beauty and culture we possess.
The knowledge of our physical strength is true, we are an impressive and often threatening sight for those uninformed in our arts. We are tall, sturdy with dense bones and bulky muscles. We are often found in the hides of beasts, this is for the warmth and abundance of animals in our homelands. When an animal is slain leaving the hides as remains are foolish and considered disrespectful to our traditions which we have had for generations.
We are prideful and don't do anything underhandedly. When we initiate war we cut off all of our own hair through the Delegation of Hair and send it to the victim, this achieves two things: it shows a sign of respect for them allowing them to prepare and allow those not looking to fight time to flee, in addition the longer the hair the more peaceful the attacker is showing a sign of urgency and respect for that individual.
We are also great artisans and carpenters, just taking a look at the totems we make to honour our divines. They are carved with precision and use techniques to dye them found nowhere else on the continent. But our handcraft doesn't end there as it extends to beadwork, sculpting with clay and hide work when making our clothing and armour.
Our leather and hide work is indeed the most talented, visitors from all over the world come here for our skill. With lords and emperors hiring us as personal craftsmen in their own homes.
Our achievements are shadowed by the views of the political powers who view us as nothing more than savages and witches, but just a few days in this culture and you would see how much more complicated it is. We commune with our shaman, something outlawed by the political powers that surround us. They call their own shaman mages, sorcerers and wizards a way to shame us while getting the benefits without sacrificing their own theurgy.
For I can't express the whole culture as a whole I advise you the reader to venture forth and take a taste of this civilization for yourself.
We are more complex than anyone can imagine and we will stay persistent and never give up our lives to the imperialization taking place.
