War of the Flying Baron

The War of the Flying Baron was a war that lasted 194 years, although often referred to as the 200 year war of scales. It was named after the sparsely separated attacks by the dragons of Jultren by the Huikliis.

History

Begining

The was sprung from the events of thePact of Flame, a contract between the mortal queen Enser Flame between her and the divine Shesire to create the Ashen species out of the natives as a way to prepare for this war that the spirit Odhun warned Shesire about. It is said Shesire gave them a pair of her horns and ripped off Marduh's, the dragon spirit, tail for the betrayal that was eminent from him. However unknown to her it was this action of ripping off his tail that led to him starting the war by taking his druids to Jultren to become the Huikliis and prepare to invade the land they fled from.

Middle

Although it took about 200 years very few fights took place, each being sparsely placed out and ununified. Each attack was potent, but each was dealt with leaving scars on the land for years to come such as destroyed cities, abandoned nests with eggs that hatched their servants the Skaal and rare occasion a new dragon. Additionally some weakened dragons fled to hide in the mountains and caverns emerging years later after they healed.
Most of the attacks were led by Huikliss soldiers riding the dragons trying to function as a military formation, however the organic way the dragons flew made it very hard for them to retain formation. This tactic was replaced quickly by archers on top of the dragons high in the sky, but this to didn't last on account of the distances. To the end of the war, the dragons were more used as transports for the foot soldiers of Huikliis and Skaal, then with the dragons charging into the enemies formation to try to break them as a suicide bomber.
Their lack of military formation left them to become weak and out performed by the defenders of the land they used to call home.

Results

The Treaty of the Flying Baron was signed by a multitude of cultures and organizations in order to form a peace between the species and ethnicities. It had the added effect of allowing the opportunity for a global language and calendar to be elected, being Serenity the common tongue and the Cadence calendar. The Skaal, the draconic people were deemed sentient and were protected, but to their dismay dragons(their birthers) were to be exiled if found. This led to noble houses hiding dragons in locations so they may one way emerge again and be treated with the respect they deserve. The Shesire Sovereignty was given control over the land previously owned by the mirran, leaving the mirran the option to adopt their new rulers or to flee into the wilderness. Josephine Slande discovered the Slande Archipelago and created a safe region for all the seafaring thugs to reside and thrive under a pirate code.
