Void Rifts
General
Voidrifts are incredibly rare phenomenon that manifest where the Fabric of Reality has been torn asunder on a deep, fundamental level.
Its patterns have been unraveled to such an extent that there essentially do not exist any anymore; the remaining ones are of such chaotic and everchanging nature that only the Urh would be able to make them out.
Description
Void Rifts ripple in the air like esoteric flags, as if pulled by an unseen and unfeeling wind that distorts space and light around it. They have a vaguely crystalline feel to them, something that is elevated by continually shifting fractures that branch out into the air.
Their border is marked by a hair-thin line of brilliant white light that is everlasting, while the interior is pitch-black with faint pulsating grains of white light that slowly fade away; some have described them as stardust.
A glimpse into the Voids
The Void Rifts expose that which exists beyond the Fabric of Reality, and offers a somewhat safe glimpse into the cold vastness of the Voids.
Some, however, disagree with this assessment and claim that Void Rifts are in fact more akin to dimensional holographic live feeds of the Voids and that they manifest as warning signs that something is terribly wrong with the Fabric of Reality.
Mend Void Rifts
To say that Void Rifts are difficult to heal is a vast understatement; only the Urh are said to accomplish it within a reasonable timeframe. Fortunately, it is said that the phenomenon is able to heal naturally without outside assistance. However, it may take many many millennia and it is more likely to happen if the Fabric of Reality is otherwise whole.
Temporary Void Rifts
Void Rifts may also be temporary, and these are in fact the most common ones, as well as the least dangerous. They may be lacerated into existence either by powerful entities or certain artifacts of power, and will only exist for a few minutes at a time, before the Fabric of Reality violently mend the wound. Accompaning this mend process is a powerful gravitaitonal force capable of ripping apart steel like wet tissue paper.
It is also said that all gates that opens up, will for a heartbeat become a temporary Void Rift. This happens so quickly though, that it is barely noticeable even to the most attentive of beings, and thus most consider it a theory at best.
Gates to the Voids
The most stable of Void Rifts can allow for access to the Voids, though due to their inherent unstable nature this is dangerous even for Selathi to attempt. Especially without protective equipment that can stave off the reality-warping energies. Certain artifacts of power and technology is able to provide additional moments of stability long enough for moderate safe passage, fortunatly.
