The Gods are Dead.
Their Blood now stains the Material Realm
Ichor and Nhermor.
Blessed and Cursed.
Life and Death.

Saong Mearach. Once upon a time, it was a name belonging to one of the most powerful beings who have ever lived, and later it became the name of the grandest city ever built.
In due time, as the influence of this most grandiose city expanded across the world, people began using it as a synonym for the planet itself.
Due to the grand minds living within the confines of the City of Saong Maearch, most civilized portions of the world entered a new age of technological advancement more than eighty years ago. Automated steam-powered constructs aided by intricate clockwork machinery and with the life-giving spark given by burning Ichor.
Once merely thought to be simple machines used to aid mankind towards the heavens, it was soon discovered by accident that Ichor Coal not only aided as an excellent fuel source but also gave the more advanced constructs the gift of thought.
This discovery caused the already expensive and rare God Mineral to be even more sought after and the regions where it could be found in abundance were fought over by many political and regional powers. Something that blew up into a nigh-global war that every major nation was pulled into. The Grand Ichor War.
More than eighty years ago, the Grand Ichor War ended due to the collaboration of the Four Saints and the Holy Acolytes. Now, a constrained peace has been settled, but every year, small skirmishes occur and it is only a matter of time before a new large conflict bathes the world in blood yet again.
