Sif
Sif is the gold-keeping, arrow-shooting, ale-brewing wife of Thor, the equal of any man and better than most. She is the good mother and friend of the faithful. Sif was once a mortal shield maiden who upon death was taken to join the ranks of the valkeries. Quickly she ascended the ranks gaining the attention of Thor, eventually becoming his wife. She had her hair shaved off by Loki as a prank just before their wedding; in order to avoid her husbands wrath he had the dwarven twins Brok and Sindri weave her hair made of pure gold. She shows great care to her faithful worshippers and to her family and great scorn to those who seek to harm either. Her scorn has also been directed at the illegitamate children of Thor, such as Herecles.
Depiction. She is depicted as a northern woman with fair skin and blonde hair tied into two braids. She sometimes wears armor and is equipped with a bow, shield, and war axe.
Worshippers. Married and unmarried women comprise most of Sif ’s followers, though archers, farmers, and gold-seeking dwarves all maintain varying degrees of fondness for her as well. All female warriors give Sif her due as she was once a valkyrie and shield maiden.
