Architecture

The architecture of the city can be seen as an evolution through the ages as the people around have tried to adapt to the worsening conditions of the terrain around them. The earliest buildings are made with a stone base with a wooden body and thatch roofs. Generally consisting of only one story tall they are smaller affairs and the ones that have survived are the ones nearest to the docks. Some old houses remain made in the same fashion as the ones in Vulcrom, yet deeper in the city where the flooding is at its worse, these houses have sunken or collapsed. Later construction focused on lighter materials and attempting to level the terrain around them. These buildings have been made out a combination of wood, thatch and clay. They have fared better than the previous ones, yet although they didn't sink, flooding was common and the much weaker construction meant that storms would generally devastated these establishments. The latest generation of buildings have tried to instead raise buildings on stilts and making them with solid stone bases. The stronger construction, engineering work, tools and materials required for this construction makes this option the most expensive one but the local aristocracy has spared no expense and has become somewhat of a symbol of status in people to raise their houses on stilts.

Geography

The city is located on the eastern lip of a gulf, originally it was a shallow gulf but it was deepened to make it accessible to large ships. The land itself is prone to flooding from the sea and rainfall. This combined with the shallow lands leaves large sections of terrain unexpandable and filled with mangroves. Attempts have been made to expand outside of the cities walls, but this has lead to many houses becoming ruins after a very short amount of time as the house gives in which in turn has worsened the floods.

Natural Resources

The surroundings of Mythgulch are full of sea life which helps with this cities fishing markets, as well as being deeply positioned in the farthest edges of the Roost Isles it's not an uncommon spot for ships to resupply through the city's docks. The oversaturated land near the city makes it almost impossible to farm from the land fruitfully so the people depend on exports, however salt evaporation ponds are common and the main export of the city.
