Charhorn

Strife's Chosen

One hatched with scales black as ash and hide of blood red? A dragon as arrogant as he is revered by the others? No doubt, you must be speaking of Charhorn, a drake who has received nothing but praise and adoration his entire life but offers nothing but scorn gaze and irritated growls to those he considers below him. In other words, to everyone else.

Seardream, fire dragoness.
Hatching with the rare coloration of Black and Red shaped his entire life. The black is one of the rarest colors and all dragons having this color are usually considered to be an embodiment of their Ash-god Strife. Thus, being revered and held in high regard from early hatchling years, Charhorn grew up to be incredibly selfish and egotistical. He is not beyond hurting or using weaker dragons for his own good and the only kind of respect he listens well to is from dragons equally as strong or stronger than him.   But speaking about Charhorn without mentioning his past would be a disservice to him. Charhorn's mother and sister were brutally murdered by an unknown Witless Fire dragon when he was merely a seven year old youngster, leaving his father Fireseer as the sole person to care for him. It was especially difficult for him to adapt to a civilized lifestyle, when most of his peers feared him and/or openly hated him. Some, albeit few seemed to follow where he was going and as years gone by, eventually Charhorn's gang of youngsters was fairly well known as troublemakers.   Internally conflicted and interested purely in what made him content and he could internally justify as "sign from Strife", the small group of his followers eventually left the East continent and departed for the contested lands full of Wild dragons in hopes of establishing a new order for themselves. Order that would be considered perverted, twisted and unholy but not for Charhorn. He was the messiah from the Ash-god himself, after all.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Muscular, healthy but clumsy

Body Features

His hide is black and red, with small mottled markings along the side where the two colors meet and stripes along the length of his tail. Two black forward facing curved goat-like horns sprout from his head.

Physical quirks

Combat-wise, prefers to charge their enemies head-long with his horns, otherwise makes good use of staying as further away as his reach allows and attempts to intimidate or distract his opponent.   Outside of fights, remains relatively stoic and doesn't talk much. When something needs to be said, he usually speaks authoritatively and in low growly tones.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

892 AA - Tragedy

The most impactful moment of Charhorn's life happened when he was 7 years old. A Witless Fire dragon attacked him and his mother Goreclaw and sister Lighthorn. Facing the attacker, their mother fought to buy her children time but was killed. The sheer brutality of the attack left her sister horrified and in shock, while Charhorn kept flying without looking back. Perhaps it was the only thing that saved him as his sister's body was never found.

893-894 AA - Bitterness

The feral dragon who killed half of his family was hunted down and killed in the following few days but death of the Witless Fire dragon did little to ease his heart. The young dragon grew distant and became bitter. His natural coloration was very rare and by many considered a holy sign that his life will be full of perils and trials. Charhorn grew to accept it. Cherish it. And instead of backing down and retreating from challenge, he began to seek it.

895-896 AA - Leader

He spoke to those unfortunate and unhappy around him, subtly challenging their religious stance and reason behind meaningless traditions. But it was only in 895 when he delivered his famous speech at the end of a Freezan ceremony 895 that truly sparked his movement and started gathering followers to realize his plan to leave the tribe.
What a beautiful waste of our time and resources. Imagine, if there were no traditions, time would be saved to perform more meaningful tasks and food would be stored for when we truly need it. And why not go further? Those vows for partnership that two adults make to establish a family can hardly be considered fair when they are obliged by law and tradition to keep them even if both parties want to break them. Why could simple agreements not suffice to breed or to just pair up with someone? Each time I see others who judge me based on the fact I favor Strife over Perseverance, they willingly rob themselves of their rights. The right to think like a rational draconic being. Witless are spreading at an alarming rate and if we are to fight them. We need to adapt. We need to be clever and stop relying on miracles to save our race. If everyone could behave the way they want without superstition and with reason, then we can be truly free. Else, we might just be Witless but with a set of fancy celebrations.
Charhorn
A month after delivering his speech, Charhorn found himself approached by many young dragons, all willing to follow him and make their own rules. Make their own tribe.

Sexuality

Oddly enough for a fire dragon, his own sexuality is far more open than the one of his peers. Perhaps it is due to the traumatic childhood or his revering subjects, either way Charhorn never intends to say his vows to any one dragoness ever. Instead, he carelessly enjoys the delights of sexual life and encourages his followers to do the same with anyone he desires.

Employment

Currently leading a small group of young Fire dragons towards lands of Wild dragons in hopes of establishing a settlement of his own.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Established his own tribe at Wakean 896 AA. Current amount of residents is considered to be around 25 dragons.

Failures & Embarrassments

Given his nature, conflict was inevitable throughout his life but none humiliated him in combat as much as Seardream, a fire dragoness of his age that he used to make fun of, until one day she challenged him to a fight and despite being much smaller. Charhorn found himself pinned down and with her claw upon his throat.

Mental Trauma

Harbors intense hatred towards Air dragons, given the fact he was the only one who managed to escape a Witless one as she tore through his mother and then sister.

Intellectual Characteristics

Enjoys proving his point through lessons and giving out these lessons in as dramatic way as possible

Taboos

Related to the topic of sexuality if his settlement survives long enough, it will likely be very difficult to tell which male sired which clutch. A life lived in such a "barbaric" way would be considered a great taboo back home.

Personality Characteristics

Likes & Dislikes

Delights in being obeyed or having his way. Not much else in his life delights him as much as seeing someone reluctantly abandon reason or their own personal comfort to obey him. Other things he likes is laying on hotrocks, pig and boar meat and setting up campfires.   Dislikes being proven wrong, made fun of or being humiliated, especially in public. Also dislikes old dragons and bathing, almost as much as all the previous points.

Personality Quirks

Tends to fidget along with flint or small rocks when nervous or impatient

Hygiene

Fire dragons are not extremely hygienic by nature and take baths only when absolutely necessary. Charhorn is no exception.

Social

Religious Views

Seeing how he himself is seen as an embodiment of Strife by his followers, Charhorn uses religion as the reason for testing his follower's will and strength. Sometimes organizing a fight between his followers, other time an endurance test to see who gathers the most firewood in the shortest time possible. For Charhorn, religious beliefs of his companions is a tool he is using to control them but at the same time, he himself feels strangely compelled to test his own abilities in much the similar way here and there.

Social Aptitude

Very persuasive and charismatic, apt for putting up intimidating performances.
