The Vestry of the New Dawn

The New Dawn are a controversial organization in Merriby West. As an order of clerics and paladins, some have good intentions and are determined to create genuine, positive change in the world. Others have darker, more nefarious purposes beyond the understanding of the people they supposedly serve.
One example of the truly good and noble members of the New Dawn can be found here. The Vestry of the New Dawn is a massive cathedral that was constructed long ago. It withstood the test of time, surviving even through war and battle. Once the city of Gerrin was built around it, the temple grew and was soon given new purpose. Today, it acts as a massive hospital and medical center. Its clerics cure disease and heal wounds for a price, and all of the money goes toward funding field operations to reclaim the wastes of the mainland.

The Vestry of the New Dawn was originally crafted by ancient humans, some of the first settlers to the isle of Merriby West. They knew that they had arrived to a place of great potential, but that they would not live to see it. They poured all of their resources and time into creating the vestry, originally meant to be a non denominational temple to the gods to thank them for guiding them to such a great land. It is believed that they were assisted by elves who had settled the area long ago, as elements of elven architecture can be seen throughout the temple.

The New Dawn's leader, Lazarus Rishar, has little to do with the Vestry of the New Dawn. He actively opposed the idea such a place when the idea was first proposed to him. He felt it was a waste of vital resources needed for the many quests to the wastes south of the island. Eventually, he became so wrapped up in business elsewhere that one of the lower ranking officials (a man named Habrall) took initiative and created a place for the people.
