For over 250 years, the nations of Atolvance lived in relative peace with one another.

From 675 to 902, the individual nations and settlements of Atolvance lived in harmony. Trade and commerce was free flowing and the nations allowed free, uninterrupted passage between their borders. In 902, however, that all changed. The Primordial Haze began to move once more. This time, towards the center of Atolvance and the nation of Atrana. The people of Atrana, knowing the strange powers of the Haze, were fearful. They asked for help from the other nations but were offered none. Nobody wanted to disturb the powerful magic within the Primordial Haze. The Atranans summoned an ancient, demonic entity. It repelled the Haze, splitting it in two. It passed around Atrana and settled in Auril, where it has remained even until now.
