Fiercely independent, having defended against invasion from Quevos and Hylmaa. However, Laisians, as most Northern Melneans and Southern Melnean Overviews, have a penchant for raiding coastal communities. When raiding to the north they tend not to pillage or burn, rather consider this a more friendly exercise, similar to two siblings fighting. While there may be some death, mercy is shown to those bested in combat. Food stores, goods and livestock 'liberated' in such a raid are, as rule, not ruinous in volume. As such, to fill the holds of the ships involved in a raiding excursion targeting Quevos, Jarmaa: Overview or Hylmaa usually lasts longer and hits several different coastal towns.
This is not true when raiding south to Meloth. Their the fighting is vicious and under extreme circumstances Laisian raiders have been known to salt the earth after burning towns to the ground.
Occasionally they raid to the east, and while no quarter is given in those raids, they rarely leave the towns in as bad a shape as those in Meloth.
