Northern Melnean
Overview
Fond of raiding; more prone to the Melothian sense of having been robbed of their birthright to rule much of the world, aggressive as a people. Family is valued, but a more coherent sense of ethnicity is present when compared to Lake Melnean or @Southern Melneans. D&D races: Drow(common), Human (common), Tiefling (common), half-orc (uncommon), halfling (uncommon), gnome (uncommon), elf (common), dwarf (rare), dragonborn (rare) Foods tend to be sea based, with kelp and sea grass cultivated in shallow sea-side beds a staple. Grains from inland are often mixed with these sea-greens to form hearty, nutritious fare. Fish, squid, shark and octopi are eaten regularly, lightly seasoned.Cities and Encampments
Architecture more similar to Melothian cities, with spires, single family dwellings. Buildings are generally circular Smaller towns are centered around an ale or mead hall, usually across a central square from a central governmental center (which is considered much less integral to society, or to governing, than the ale hall). Larger cities feel much more like a large conglomeration of smaller towns, each with their own mead or ale hall. Holidays among Northern Melneans can take a more violent tone, with folk from each neighborhood "raiding," other neighborhoods. Generally this manifests as mischievous pranks pulled by children, though it is not uncommon for adults to take to the streets with ax and sword in hand to settle old grudges under the guise of "good fun for all."Ships
Northern Melneans utilize maneuverable long-boats generically called "dragons." Larger boats are named after chromatic dragons, with white and blue dragons being the largest, more heavily armed ships. Smaller ships are typically called wyverns after the feared beasts ridden by their Melothian ancestors into battle.Culture
