A bit of history....
Mikdash was ruined by the protracted war between the gods of chaos and those law, along side their mortal proxies headed by the dark elves of the historical Melothian Empire and the dwarves of Zindushur. By the final days of the war, the gods strode a cross the land and sea, locked in combat, flattening mountains and churning oceans while most mortals huddled under what cover they could. Then as the last champions of law and chaos clashed, send shockwaves over the world, they stopped and fled.
A great cracking could be heard the world over, followed by the groaning sounds of glaciers rubbing against each other and great trees straining against a great weight.
And the gods were gone. The bodies of those that had fallen lay still, slowly decomposing and imbuing the lands and oceans with some of their potency, but no longer walking amongst the mortals, no longer sending dreams or portents.
Reemergence of Divinity on Mikdash
between 100 and 200 years
Peace of Separation something changed. Divine magic began being practiced by some of the most devout of clerics. It is unknown how or why this occurred, only that it was hidden at first, as most mortals feared divine influence. By 1000 PS clerics who can perform minor magics are not longer rare, and in larger population centers are welcomed. Some more remote communities, who may never have come in contact with a spell caster of any sort, will treat clerical magic (if they can recognize it as such) with distrust, suspicion and depending on their biases, with violence.
