Vheln

The Vheln are a species of sapient bipedal reptilians that originated on the arid world of Xanth. While the Xani species developed along a path similar to other sentient life forms, the Vheln were a pre-sapient species. Early on in their history, Xanis began domesticating and breeding Vheln into sapience. Throughout the following centuries, the Vheln would act as the brawn to the Xanid brains. Due to their long history of being bred for manual labour, the Vheln never developed the same cognitive abilities as other spacefaring species. As such, the average adult Vheln has intelligence comparable to a Xanid child of fewer than 8 years old. Not only do the Vheln lack higher intelligence, but they are notably slow at acquiring new skills and have stunted learning capabilities.

Although the Vheln lack in intelligence, they do not lack in strength. They are comparable to Tzynn in raw physical strength, capable of lifting hundreds of kilograms with relative ease. Additionally, Vheln set themselves to tasks with single-minded dilligence. When working for themselves, their families, or Xanid overseers, they have a tendency to go above and beyond their minimum requirements. However, the power of the Vheln body takes its toll on the species, quickly wearing down and resulting in a lower than average life expectancy.
