Yatune

Yatunes are a species of sapient bipedal humanoids that originated on the ocean world of Yatunea. Although they evolved on an ocean world, Yatunes have a swimming ability comparable with other humanoids, and live on land instead of in the water. Yatunes are known as one of the most adaptable species in the galaxy, with a strong immune system, heat and cold resistance, organic particulate filters, and can survive in extreme hot and cold environments. However, they have a shorter than normal life expectancy at only eighty years. When accounting for accidental death, especially in the Yatunan Radicals, Yatunes have a life expectancy as short as seventy years.

Yatunes are known for regularly challenging political and social status quos. It is believed this was an acquired cultural adaptation, as the most successful pre-FTL Yatunan societies were those that were cast out from shelters into storm-wracked territories. This has also led the species to develop a significantly higher risk tolerance than most others. Almost all Yatunes, regardless of their birthplace and upbringing, have some level of reverence for meteorological phenomena, such as atmospheric and cosmic storms.
