Conventional Weapons

Conventional weapons, usually referred to in any number of ways; Bolter, slug thrower, launcher, catapult, kinetics, and punchers are all names used for the conventional style of weapons that fires a projectile at high speeds towards a target.   The type of projectile and the method of launching it varies based on the style and design of the weapon. Projectiles can be anything from small light darts, or large bolts, and the launching method can be magnetic, sonic, gravimetric, or compressed gas. The concept of using ignitable chemical propellant died out a thousand years ago.   The concept of projectile weapons are almost as old as the concept of melee weapons. While still available today, these weapons see little use outside the gravity wells of planets. Inside, space ships, space stations, and atmosphere domes, these weapons are strictly banned. There is debate on whether modern kinetic weaponry are actually capable of piercing the hull of modern vessels, most usually rather err on the side of caution.
