Energy Weapons

Due to the heavy power requirements and the exorbitant cost, energy based beam weapons are usually only found on larger space craft. Usually ones designed to hold them or capital class vessels. Because Capital class vessels can become quite huge, the beam weapons can also have a fairly devastating output. Smaller craft could be completely engulfed in the beam, vaporizing it in mere moments.
The standard for most ships remains plasma based weaponry. Torpedoes and Missles are also used though they tend to be slower and easy to shoot down.
