Sailmakers workshop

The Sailmakers workshop at Skipton Naval base came about because after a few seasons on the island, the navy found out that the seas around the base were rough on the sails and they would often break and because of the high number of ships and the base and therefore the high need of sails, the navy decided that it was easier and cheaper for them to construct a workshop at the base that would specialize in the making of said sails.    Of all the buildings on the base, the building where the workshop is located is one of the largest buildings on the base only second to the building where the ships are placed when they go into extensive repairs and refits.    The sails made at the workshop is generally lighter than those made in the other workshops that make sails for the Dercian navy but because of specialists brought in from other nations and the use of magic enhanced tools that will help the workers in making their sails lighter.   The sailors at the base have mentioned that there are an advantage and disadvantages to these lighter sails      Advantage
  • The lighter sails make them easier to hand for the sailors to handle.
  Disadvange
  • The lighter sails will not stay intact for long if caught in a storm at sea.
It's also at the workshop where the famous HMDS Anzio first time were outfitted with the signature red and white sails of the Dercian Navy.
