Imperial Tongue
Tsennari'attore
Overview
Tsennari'attore is the auxilary language used by almost the entirety of Nirann for purposes of trade, diplomacy, religious debate, and general cross-cultural contact. It was created based on the language of Soranna during the Ilsairi Ketsing.Characteristics
Scripts
The language has several scripts it is written in, with the most common being Maevika, Sivika, and Suranvika.Maevika
Maevika, or wallscript, is a phonetic script for writing the language that was based on the Suranvika script being simplified for easier teaching to the lower classes during the Ilsairi Ketsing. It was decided by choosing a selection of the Suranvika characters based on common words beginning with or featuring that letter. In 1360, it was reformed to add more letters to include more sounds found in other Niranni languages for loan words.Sivika
The most common script, Sivika is a simplification of Maevika that is taught to commoners by the monks of the world. It is seen as peasantscript, in contrast to Maevika which is used by warriors primarily.Suranvika
Suranvika is the most uncommon of the three scripts, being found used by nobles, warriors, monks, and poets. It is the logographic script that the other ones are derived from. It is found only in Ischarra, Alsivai, Immestrai, Koisha, and Soranna.Geographic Distribution
The Imperial Language is taught as a second language to many Soranni, Ischarri, and Immestri people. It is also found in smaller numbers among many Thadians, Anesari, Alsivai, Kassae, and Ithellenoi. It is found among these peoples, and is particularly taught to people by the monks of the Kirrentai as a way to promote the one-Niranni Identity.Book of Tsennari Grammar and Words
