Ilmow Province

Geography

The region is characterized by a variety of distinct geographical features. On the West and East coasts, there are notable mountain ranges that stretch along the shores, providing natural boundaries and influencing the local climate and vegetation. In the northern part of the region, a prominent cliff range can be found, marked by steep, rocky escarpments that define the landscape. The southern areas are distinguished by their extensive beaches, which are lined with sandy dunes. These dunes are particularly susceptible to the region's frequent dust storms, which shape and reshape the terrain over time. In contrast, the northern areas exhibit more solid ground, with less shifting of the earth and a more stable surface.

Localized Phenomena

Natural disasters have historically been a frequent and unfortunate occurrence in this region. In the southern areas, haboobs and dust storms are particularly prevalent. These intense dust storms, driven by strong winds, can significantly impact visibility, transportation, and the health of local populations. They also play a crucial role in shaping the sandy dunes that characterize the southern landscape. Meanwhile, in the northern regions, wildfires are a common hazard. These fires often occur during the dry season and can spread rapidly through the vegetation, posing a significant threat to both human settlements and the natural environment. The frequent occurrence of these natural disasters has had a profound impact on the region’s history, influencing everything from agricultural practices and land use to emergency preparedness and urban planning.

Climate

The temperatures reach sweltering heats all year round, with Winter being 70° Fahrenheit, at its coolest, and Summer reaching above 115° on an average day.

History

Ilmow province had never been a very popular place to live due to the constant storms, but it’s very beloved by the people who live there. Originally, desert dwellers from the mainland of Maefyzer were sick of the Ukorsi kingdom trying to usurp control of the entire continent, so they fled south to the largest island they could find and resettled. Despite the storms they struggled with, they quickly found ways to work around it, especially with having houses underground and in caves.

Tourism

Though many people outside of deserts shudder at the thought of visiting, people from Maefyzer visit pretty often, especially to the one fully established city and the cliffs nearby it.
