Memory Pearls

Memory pearls were only recently discovered, and so not much is really known about them. Hyalbtz, the royal court wizard, found one while he was visiting Thari. He suspects that there might be life in the Frozen Middle as the Pearl was flung out from the raging snow storms. He speculates there may be a giant lake nearby that homes special oysters. One thing’s for certain is that this pearl is used to prevent the decay of memories.
Being that he can barely speed up the memory recall, he hasn’t made it too far in the memory of the pearl. He’s been able to see so far how the pearl ended up in his hands, as well as.. a giant eye in the frozen middle. Never blinking. And a flying octopus placing said pearl into the eye.

Utility

While with the naturally found pearl it’s unknown how to store new memories, Hyalbtz is able to recall said memories with some ease, experiencing the memories almost as if he was there. With the artificial pearls, he’s able to record memories automatically, and recall memories in a similar fashion although the pearls project out the memories, including the environment.

Manufacturing

1. To create artificial memory pearls, one must create a Venn diagram utilising runes.
2. The pearl is placed in the cross section of the diagram, while a lapis lazuli is place in one circle, and a pyrite in the other.
3. The creator must activate the runes, and position a large scrying mirror in front.
4. If successful, the transfer should happen automatically with a beam of light emitting from the gems to the mirror.

Social Impact

While the magic is still being studied, Hyalbtz has made significant progress in the understanding of magic occurring from nature, as well as helping him understand how to manipulate said magic to his will like with transferring magical properties.

Access & Availability

They’re extremely rare, with only one that’s been naturally found in the wild. Hyalbtz is currently working to artificially recreate these memory pearls, and has made a few prototypes. Currently, it’s a closely guarded secret kept between him, the Highking, and Eilis.

Discovery

They were found by the royal court wizard, Hyalbtz. He says that these pearls are different from the regular pearls, but can’t entirely explain why other than the magical properties behind both. Regular pearls are usually used to aid in meditation and strengthen one’s spiritually, while the memory pearls are only able to store memories and recall them.
