The Golden Apple of Mount. Pegasus Haven
Summary
The myth outlines a satyr woman named Krixana, who, driven by an ancient prophecy, embarks on a perilous and arduous quest to trek through the treacherous and mysterious old mountains of Fzalder. Her mission is to locate and retrieve the elusive golden apple, a legendary fruit said to possess the miraculous power to grant immortality to anyone who consumes it. Along her journey, Krixana faces numerous challenges and encounters various mythical creatures and divine guardians, each guarding secrets and trials that test her resolve, strength, and wisdom.
Historical Basis
There’s a lot of debate around whether or not this event really occurred. Highly spiritual folk of Fzalder argue it did happen, but many historians say that the only historical piece about it is some random woman likely did make the trek in an attempt to find the apple- but that it couldn’t have happened when it did as historians believe Mirthae as a planet didn’t exist before the arrival of the ivierae.
They do believe there was a lady named Krixana who made the trek, but that it was more of a religious pilgrimage as many satyr in the area liked to do in the early days after the war.
Spread
The myth is very well known to those who live in Fzalder, being rather commonly believed as a factual historical myth. Outside of Fzalder however, very few people know of the myth or anything surrounding it. The most people know of is the apple itself.
Variations & Mutation
Originally, the myth was about a woman who was seeking to become a goddess by eating the divine golden apple. The reason why is unknown to this day, but in the modern iteration it’s about a woman who seeks to become immortal so that she can spread her knowledge of the olden days, before the ivierae arrived to Mirthae.
Cultural Reception
Although well-known in Fzalder, it’s really only the south that views it as being factual and an imperative part of culture. Outside of the country, most view it as a mere child’s folktale meant to teach kids about the importance of oral tradition.
In Literature
In southern Fzalder, there’s countless poems and songs dedicated to the myth. Though it’s viewed by most as nothing more than a silly myth, many do like to include it in fictional books as something fun to achieve or talk about.
In Art
Various holy places in Fzalder tend to have lots of imagery surrounding the golden apple, and especially pegasi as they were often featured in the myth.
