Guildhall of Arcane Lore - The House of Roses

The House of Roses is named for the distinctive floral design on the doors and stained glass windows. The City of Thay's largest wizard's guildhall also serves as a hostel and meeting for traveling arcanists.

Guild Assets

Masters Suites and Laboratories

The guild has suites and laboratories for six masters, although only five are currently occupied.

Communal Laboratory

Apprentices, as well as transient guild members, use this large hall. It is well equipped.

Library

The guild library is small by Melderyni standards however does contain rare books dating back to the days of the Aleathian Republic and Corani Empire.

The library's most treasured artifact was the Silver Scrolls of Shyrrik Elafaren, a silk document written by the Elven Arcanist Shyrrik Elafaren. This study into the Earthmaster psionic and magical lore was written over 2,000 years ago was recently stolen.

The Sanctum

The building's basement has a large warded sanctum for hazardous magical experimentation.

Hostel

The Guildhall has comfortable accommodation for up to eight visitors.

Prominent Guild Members and Staff

The Guildhall has 1 administrator, 5 masters, 7 apprentices, and 3 staff. At any point, there are up to 8 transient guild members studying within the guildhalls.

Seneschal Tobiuis Cain

Tobiuis Cain is an able administrator supervising the guild's staff. He has a rare psionics talent, which grants him the power to remain unseen. His staff are rather paranoid.

Shenava Milisanda Hedney

Mistress Milisanda specializes in magically and extracting properties and toxins from plants and fungi. She has a glasshouse, filled with exotic plants, on the Guild's roof and is also the Guild's informal contact for the Order of the White Hand.

Shenava Reginalde Nubie

Master Reginalde is a skilled conjurer specializing in summoning avian creatures.

History

570TR - With the rise of the Theocracy of Tekhos, many of the City of Aleath's Guild magic users relocated to the Kingdom of Melderyn. They took with them a considerable number of books and equipment.

572TR - Refugees from the City of Aleath found the City of Thay.

587TR - The former Aleathian magic users set up a new Chantry in the City of Thay.

Library Assets.

Using the library will grant;

+2 to Arcana checks and Spell Research.

+3 If the Arcana checks involve Elven Magic.

+3 to Nature and Apothecary.

+4 to History checks relating to Western Hârn during the late Corani Empire and early Balshan Jihad time periods.

The various books of arcane lore will allow a Level 3 Wizard or higher to change their cantrips after several hours of study. This is available to all guild members.

The Libary has multiple versions of most Players Handbook spells of level 1 to 3 as well as a random section of higher level and more exotic spells. This is available to guild members of Shenava (or Master) rank.

Using the laboratory resources grants;

+3 to Alchemy and Herbcraft Checks.

-10% to magic item creation costs and time.

Sanctum.

The sanctum is used for dangerous magical experimentation.

All objects or characters within the sanctum warded against Fire, Acid, Cold, and Shock damage. Damage done by these energy sources is halved.

Any summoned entity is confined to the Sanctum unless the conjurer wished otherwise.
