Temple of Larani - Church Of St Amarab
The Legend of Saint Amarab, the Dutiful Guardian
Sir Amarab fought off bandits and a troll valiantly, defending his liege lord's wife and baby daughters, but in the process, he took a grievous wound to the head from the troll's club but fought on to safely return his charges home before dying.
His shattered caved-in helm rests in the Church Of St Amarab in the Town of Kiban.
St Amarab's is the center of spiritual life for the nobility and honorable warriors in the Kiban region. It is a temple of Larani operated by the Order of the Spear of Shattered Sorrow.
Temple Features
Hall of St Amarab
The church is built around a much older chapel constructed not long after the death of Saint Amarab to commemorate his many great deeds.
This hall contains statues of the goddess Larani and the saint. The caved-in Helm of St Amarab rests on the pulpit on a silver shield. Pilgrims regularly visit, and it is a popular site for pious knights and nobles to do holy vigils.
Library and Scriptorium
The church has a scriptorium and a large library containing holy books. Some of these date back to the early missionary period after the fall of Lothrim's Empire. This produces a wide range of holy texts for the faithful. The most popular book is The Guardian's Rest.
Crypt
The crypt holds the remains of Saint Amarab and ten other notables in sturdy stone caskets.
However, one of the caskets is empty and opens to a dangerous underground passage previously used by thieves. Chains are wrapped around the casket and secured with a paddle lock. A former high priest had boasted he has prepared a nasty surprise for thieves.
