Father Goodfellow
Father Bartholomew James Goodfellow, or Father Goodfellow for short, has recently opened and runs the Church of the Everlasting Soul, Mythrite's direct connection to the pantheon of gods. That's right, the whole pantheon. All are welcome and all may offer to their gods to seek redemption. Father Goodfellow hosts two daily services in the church, one at 7am and one at 7pm. He also offers his services for weddings, funerals, christenings, baptisms, exorcisms, and quinceaneras, as well as anything else you can think of that needs a holy hand involved.
Father Goodfellow is a 29 year old male hailing from the city of Immilmar. At the ripe young age of 18, Father Goodfellow took up a higher calling and became a priest, spreading the words of the gods wherever he went. Hearing recently about the establishment of a new town on the frontier, he knew he had to be there.
Father Goodfellow has taken up residence in Eronia Minor, though all inquiries or visits should be made during working hours at the church. He asks kindly that you respect his privacy when he is home as he needs to concentrate on holy matters and be undisturbed.
Despite being a theologian, Father Goodfellow is also quite well versed in philosophy, psychology, and law. He likes to spend his free time praying, reading, and exercising to keep his body healthy. Though his belief is that through the mind -- through knowledge of the world, oneself, and the gods, you can save your immortal soul and live forever with the gods.
His youthful appearance consists of slicked back medium length black hair, a smile that shines like the sun, clear skin, and deep brown eyes. He often dresses formally, believing that everyone should dress for the success they wish to have. His typical attire is a modest black button down shirt, slacks, dress shoes, and a golden chain around his neck in tribute to the gods.
The scars on his left cheek and right hand come from an unfortunate run in with a wayward soul down on his luck who took the ever kind Father Goodfellow for an easy mark. He approached the homeless individual while distributing supplies to the slums of Baldur’s Gate while on a missionary trip to see if he could offer him anything that could help. The individual left Father Goodfellow bloodied on the ground and took all of the supplies for himself. Father Goodfellow still prays to the pantheon of gods on behalf of this person.
Father Goodfellow is perpetually a friendly presence, getting along with everyone no matter race, gender, or other distinguishing factors. Some people may be taken aback by his direct methods of adding parishioners to his church, or retrieving wandering members of the congregation, but rest assured that it is only to your benefit to heed the advice and suggestions you are given by the good father.
Father Goodfellow particularly enjoys string instrumentals, though he cannot play an instrument himself. In addition to people, the good father also loves animals, particularly dogs, though he has none of his own due to a lack of time to take care of them.
Father Goodfellow is a firm supporter of the town guard, the caravan guard, as well as the law in general. He wants to keep the streets of Mythril free from crime and the souls of its people saved for the gods, though not sent to them early. He does however realize the temptations of evil and the amount of work the guards already put in before the establishment of the Church of the Everlasting Soul, so unfortunately the church will be both closed and locked down after the nightly mass until the morning mass is about to begin.
Should you see Father Goodfellow headed somewhere hurriedly at any time, please assume that he is on urgent business of the church. If you need Father Goodfellow for services outside of church hours, please schedule this with him during the work day as he cannot be reached after. If the church is closed at any time during work hours, assume that Father Goodfellow was needed elsewhere in town and will return shortly.
Monetary sacrifices to the gods should be dropped into the slot of the pedestal of the relevant god. Any general pantheon sacrifices can be made into the larger box on the left back wall. Donations to the church should be placed into the box at the back right of the church. Payments for any additional services rendered should be made directly to Father Goodfellow.
