Lethri Deathsong
Poor Lethri Deathsong has always lived in poverty and has lived on the streets for most of her life. Until coming to Mythrite, she’s rarely even ever had a single coin to her name. Her father was a drunkard who she only ever knew in name, and her late mother was the exiled daughter of an affluent merchant family. While her mother was still alive, Lethri was fortunate enough to be educated by her. Her mother taught her how to read and write using whatever she could: Discarded tomes, signposts, wanted posters, and just about anything else she could that was free. Lethri still owns some of those discarded tomes and posters and cherishes them still to this day.
Lethri arrived in Mythrite about seven to eight months ago and has been living in a small shack in Eronia Minor. Although while being a scribe, she is commonly mistaken as a newcomer by both old and new residents of Mythrite. This is no doubt due to her self-isolation and hermitude within her own little humble abode. Lethri always wanted to be a teacher, but due to being extremely shy and plagued with a paralyzing fear of social confrontation, becoming a scribe was her next best option. It allows her to often be left to just her and her work, which is far more to her tastes anyhow.
While Lethri’s main source of income as a scribe is aiding her clients in their financial endeavors, her true passion is the collection and archival of any and all documentation. After purchasing her first home, Lethri quickly transformed it into her own private library. With there being no other towns for days of Mythrite, she has taken it upon herself to offer her library to those she trusts. Albeit as a scribe, she directly works with and benefits from the merchants, her heart lies with the lower class of Mythrite, and offers her services and library to any of them needing or just even desiring it.
On the rare chance she’s seen out of her home, she’s often found scavenging anything she can that has writing on it. Some may say she’s “resourceful”, but most think she’s a hoarding loon. To her, to waste not is to need not and knowledge is power, so the ends justify the means. Even if those means are usually digging around in the trash. Some of the documents she’s recovered are of discarded business transactions, contracts, and receipts from other scribes or merchants, which she may or may not have qualms with. And depending on who asks for them, she may or may not happily share with them if it means taking the unjust rich down a peg or two.
With how rarely Lethri’s ever spotted outside though, the local rumor mill has it that she’s either a vampire or a ghost. While most take this just as silly gossip, even the most silly of rumors can hold some water to those who are paranoid over the constant threat of monsters just off the horizon.
