Old Grayweaver Farmstead

The Grayweaver Farmstead is a small plot of land located in the eastern section of Gardeners Row. However, the farm has been abandoned for some time. No crops grow in its fields. The only structures to be found are a storage shed and a small one-story house, both of which have become dilapidated due to a lack of maintenance.   The reasons for the farm’s vacancy can be traced back to the Grayweavers, the human family who built the farmstead in the first place. Garth and Cela Grayweaver arrived in Mythrite nine months ago with their newborn son, Eiren. They came to Mythrite looking forward to building a new life for themselves, one in which they could raise their boy in peace. They purchased land in Gardeners Row and built a nice home for themselves, ready to plant their first batch of crops after the remnants of the previous winter thawed.   Unfortunately, tragedy struck the family only a month after their arrival. Little Eiren had caught a very nasty sickness, and despite the efforts of the Grayweavers and the local physician, the child had passed from this world.   Garth and Cela were heartbroken over the loss of their child, but Cela was shaken to her core. She wanted nothing more to do with Mythrite, wanting to move back to Neverwinter where her family was. Garth, however, was adamant about staying. They could have another child, continue working the land. They came to Mythrite looking for a new life. It was their new home.   Only the neighbors at the time could describe how heated the tensions between the two had risen, but everyone knows what happened next. On a foggy spring morning, Cela as found dead on the outskirts of town with an arrow embedded in her chest and a bag of belongings and supplies by her side. It was clear she meant to leave town, but who killed her remains a mystery to this day. Some blame goblins, but many were quick to suspect Garth had killed her out of rage. Naturally, Garth vehemently claimed innocence.   Investigations heated up within the next week until Garth finally left Mythrite in a hurry, with little preparation. The reasons for his departure remain unknown. While the practically minded suggest the guard were onto him, the more superstitious townsfolk believe vengeful spirits scared him away. Or perhaps he was innocent and just couldn’t handle the pressure the town was putting on him. Nobody can ask Garth though, for his body was found down the road torn apart by animals. Poetic justice, some might say.   Thus, the old Grayweaver Farmstead remains uninhabited. Very few people would move into a place associated with so much death. However, at night, some folks recall seeing humanoid silhouettes wandering the fields and house. Some say it’s the ghosts of the Grayweavers bound to the land, but there are also rumors that people are using the abandoned buildings for their own mischievous, perhaps criminal, purposes.
