Zondar Nicklehide

Zondar Nicklehide traveled to Mythrite looking for a cause to champion. Run out of several towns already at his young age for agitating for whatever cause brought him to town in the first place. His most successful stay yet started when he settled down in The Halberd district of Mithrite.   Mithrite caught his interest when he talked deep into the night with a dwarven trading party in Daggerford. The head of the party, descended from some dwarven nobility, lamented the situation in Mithrite. Most notably they dwarves' belief that they own mountain and that they are getting ripped off by the dealmakers in town.   This lit a fire in Zondar. He spent all his free time reading about the mountain's history, and thus the history of Mithrite. He quickly threw together an epic centered around the dwarf Orrick Rockbreaker and his betrayal by some unknown human. In his version, Orrick gained heroic status.   The epic's debut in Daggerford did not go well.   He was told to leave that night or be kicked out. While packing up (he wasn't about to be thrown out of *another* town, dammit), the head of the trading caravan sought him out with an offer: Come to Mithrite with them and sing the epic for the miners of the town.   Seeing an opportunity and a platform to agitate for change, he accepted immediately. He left with the caravan in the morning, the caravan head assuring town leaders Zondar would absolutely be leaving with them, and never looked back.   His first few nights in Mithrite were spent singing the epic, which became known as *The Betrayal of Orric Rockbreaker*, for dwarves and some humans to great fanfare. Many of the humans, at least in the common house he took up residence in, made close friendships with their dwarven compatriots agreed that the dwarves should get a bigger piece of the Mythril pie at the very least.   The next several months were a blur. Soon he had several companion ballads about the woes of the miners and the evils of the upper classes. A few managed to gain traction in the human population beyond those with dwarven friends. The lack of town guards to put down unrest meant that crowds gathered at odd hours to discuss the situations and for Zondar to perform for larger crowds.   Zondar was generally well-liked, he made a few close-knit friends with many other knowing him by sight. His food and lodgings were paid for by a slush fund from a surprising number of people in The Halberd contributing. He tried to refuse at first, insisting he could make his own way playing in taverns and the like, but the dwarves in Mithrite told him, with varying amounts of sincerity, that this was repayment for helping them advance their cause.   Because of this, Zondar felt like he finally found a place to belong, and something to fight for. For all its faults, Mithrite was home, though he largely stayed away from the Entertainment District, his friends not wanting to draw attention to the situation. Yet.   by Discord - MikahMancer#7319
