Freesia Space Station
The Freesia Space Station hovers above the planet of Mixolys, and occasionally above other planets, and sometimes in other universes entirely.
The station is divided into small districts of sorts. One wing is dedicated largely to the living quarters, apartments of various sizes intended for one to four occupants to live in. Other wings are dedicated to business, recreation (both in artificial "natural" spaces and in areas that resemble large living rooms), and administration. The station's inhabitants have likened the station's structure to areas and "buildings" connected by "roads" (that is, hallways). Most people prefer to walk around the station, though small carts can be rented for those who wish to move a little faster and have the credits (the fee is waived for those with proven mobility disabilities).
The Freesia manipulates a certain people's world-transfer magic by channeling it into contained charges. Naturally, this means that one of those people has to stop by the station and provide more charges every once in a while, but generally this occurs with minimal to no fuss. (It helps that the Freesia typically stays in Mixolys more than it goes anywhere else.) This magic is what allows the Freesia to appear in other universes and also what allows it to "beam up" (or down) people and resources. As long as it's in an area where it can retrieve supplies and it has the world-hop charges needed, the station will always be well-supplied.
Mixolys's song magic plays an extremely vital role in running and maintaining the station, particularly because the station was built from song magic itself (which is how a civilization that was otherwise planet-bound was able to get consistent space access so quickly). The song that created the Freesia is backed up in several places, each one acting as safeguards so that the station doesn't vanish and eject a decent-sized population into space upon one instance's destruction. Lito, the AI and Artificial Pactone that aids in running the station with Systems Manager Talitha Krantz, uses both server-based song magic and Pact Magic to perform various tasks. Relatedly, the station's defense systems make use of both types as magic as well.
In short, the Freesia Space Station survives through its connections to the Mixolys planet and to other worlds it encounters. So far, it floats around with minimal impediment, supplying resources and diplomacy to those who find it and connect with it. Still, when you haven't gone that far from home, it begs the question of what's really out there.
Demographics
The population is largely Mixolysians from the land below, a decent amount of which are Cross-Leys. There is a good-sized Outworlder population too, however. The population leans towards young adults, though there are some families on the station. The inhabitants ranged from mid-to-upper class when they were on the planet, though a few from humbler beginnings made it to the station. Whether or not a person got onto the initial boarding of the Freesia was determined by a heavily scrutinized application process.
Government
There is indeed a police and government force aboard the Freesia, lest anyone get the idea that they can do as they please because they're in space.
Defences
Internally, Lito and Talitha can set up all manner of song magic/Pact Magic-based defenses to stop intruders in their tracks. It helps that many of the Freesia's inhabitants can use song magic on their own as well. Externally, the magic can be amplified into giant space lasers and other projectiles depending on the magic that provides the base for the attack.
Industry & Trade
When the Freesia does leave Mixolys, it performs frequent trades with the planets it hovers over in other universes, and this way both civilizations get valuable resources they couldn't get anywhere else. Diplomacy is its own sort of business on the station as well, given that it is frequently called on to mediate disputes from above or act as a neutral party.
History
The Freesia was the result of a great deal of research on world-hop magic combined with research on large-scale and eternally-running song magic. The ability for a song to run in the background of a construction and keep it standing was in a long-running theory, but it wasn't until the Freesia was sung into existence that said theory was proven. Once it came into existence, the recruitment process for both staff and inhabitants began. Very powerful Cross-Leys with great control over songs and Pactones alike would take command of the ship's various processes, and inhabitants had to meet strict stability criteria. When the population and crew were assembled, the station was launched, and Mixolys gained access to the stars and neutral space.
