The Reaching Green

Stories of the Reaching Green have been told for ages, but never as a prominent figure. She was always regarded as the spirit of the green that looked over the isles, tending to the forests and grasses and all of the plants of the isles. She never had much interaction with the peoples of the isles, as most who wanted growth of crops and the like asked Sucellus for bounty and harvest. The Reaching Green looked over the wild places and was known mostly to druids. She was known to be a wife and lover of the Leviathan, meeting wherever the green touched the oceans.   However, in 288 DR, the Oleander Throne forces on the isle of Ilfor managed to wound and capture the Leviathan. This stuck fury within the Reaching Green as she sent fast growing kudzu to reach out and grow through the villages and towns on its way to the Leviathan's prison. There plants overran and strangled the populations that could not flee in time, turning them into undead creatures controlled by her vines. She continued toward the city of Paraetonium, sensing the nearness of the Leviathan to this area, and the Oleander forces in Paraetonium relentlessly fought back the growth of the vines, burning any vegetation that neared their city in a desperate attempt to keep her back.    In the kudzu overrun village of Ostia, a group of adventurers made way into an old, hidden shrine to her and she recognized the insignia of the Leviathan on their paladin, stopping her assault on them and making a deal that they would either free the Leviathan or, if they could not, would stop the fires so that she could tear apart the city brick by brick. Within her shrine, she also guarded the Leviathan's weapon, a great spear named Bae Gulg and she gifted it to the paladin.   The Reaching Green is also known as Acacia, and has only come into more prominence as she destroyed the villages outside of Paraetonium and sought to bring down the city.

Spread

The Reaching Green was a mostly forgotten great fey spirit of the Isles. When the Oleander Throne made their first invasion, she did not protect the isles, as the wild places that she inhabited were not endangered at that time. However, with her rise and efforts now, she has become known fully on the isle of Ilfor and word of her has begun to spread throughout the other isles.

In Art

The city of Paraetonium on the Isle of Ilfor had the remnants of a fountain that shared both the images of the Leviathan and the Reaching Green in their glamoured forms, a piece that was left from the time before the Oleander forces colonized the isle and the city was known as Loughdean. In the town of Ostia, there was a hidden shrine to the Reaching Green hidden away beneath the church which was overtaken and rededicated to the All-Father and along the walls of the secret basement were images of the Reaching Green stretching out to the oceans.
