Feodiad
"One shouldn't be afraid to lose; this is sport. However everyone wants to be the best so we try our best not to lose. This is normal. This is what sport is about. This is why I love it."A celebration, in part to herald to return of spring, and in another to Celebrate the birthday of the Champion Feodor the Wise. The Feodiad is a week long competition, held in a designated city in Argenti, where the country's best artisans, warriors, and magicians go to showcase their skills.Faolann Caendach, Grand Champion of the 82nd Feodiad Sword-master Competition.
History
After the Feroxian Liberation Campaign, Feodor, now much older, wanted to promote a sense of cultural pride in the newfound nation. He took a tradition many dwarf clans practice, and decided the same needed to happen on a grander scale. With his friends' help, they organized the first event called the "Goldead."
While it was slow in coming, Feodor labored dilligently with members of the 20 orders, the church, and even the merchants he helped cultivate, to organize the largest event ever. Despite this there was always some other work to be done, or roads to be built, or stadiums and artists to be followed, but Feodor devoted his entire being to making it so Argenti could always host such an event. From Road paving to city planning, he was involved in every step.
When he passed away, it was just weeks before his dream of the Goldead could take place. The merchants guilds and nobles of Argenti, with the blessing of Emperor Ferox II, renamed the event the Feodiad in honor of the last of the Four Champions.
Execution
The Feodiad is always on the last day of the first month of spring, and ends on Feodor the Wise' birthday.
Participants
The Feodiad is a country wide event, sponsored by the Argenti United Trades Guilds and the Feroxian High Council. As such, it is considered a valuable time for some of the most powerful people in the empire to meet. Major people in attendance are:
The Emperor
The High Arcanist
The Head of Military Affairs
The Head of Internal Affairs
The Argenti United Coalition Leaders
The Heads of any Sponsoring Organization
Various Elected Members of the Dawn Warrior’s Clergy, which includes at least one member who has completed their Fifth Catechism.
Observance
Every year, the Feroxian High Council, along with the Argenti United Coalition Leaders, choose a city for the event. After the venue is chosen, the city in question is tasked with creating a wooden statue table, painted silver. At the unveiling ceremony, this table is split in half, while the tale of Feodor the Wise is told. At the end of the story, a member of the Dawn Warrior clergy casts mending, and reaffixes the table. This table is where the winners will be asked to stand as they receive their medals for the ceremony.
