Jar of Preservation
Wondrous Item
A Jar of Preservation is noticeable by having a crystalline glass structure that refracts light into rainbows when held up to a light source. The jar lid is sealed with a brass or copper lid, that has astrolenga runes along the lid and top that read "That which lies within is untouched by time."
The Jar itself is 7 inches tall, 3.5 wide, 3.5 deep, and can be cube shaped or cylindrical. The jar can hold one quart worth of an object and has a weight limit capacity of 100 lbs. To use, one need only place something within the jar and seal the lid closed tight. Doing so suspends the object within the jar in time, where it will remain the way it is until the lid is opened. Any objects within the jar when sealed will become the weight of the jar. Objects within are also stationary until the lid is opened.
The jar can not hold a living substance, as the lid will simply spin without closing if the object within is alive (constructs can be held inside without issue). If the subject is organic or prone to rotting the jar will preserve it indefinitely. More than one time of organic material can be preserved within the jar, so long as it can fit within the jar's dimensions and does not exceed 100 lbs.
The jar can be broken if a spell is used to damage it, or if it is struck with an item that is magical or made from a magical substance.
