Blood Moon Pack
The Blood Moon Pack is a group of wayward Firbolgs who have turned their back on the stoic and generally pacifist traditions of their people. Whereas a majority of Firbolgs' philosophy is to weather the onslaught of life and affect their environment as minimally as possible, the Blood Moon Pack's philosophy is to dominate their environment; they see themselves as apex predators, and all other creatures and people are their prey. On All Gods' Eve, the Pack falls into a ravenous bloodlust, inspired by the gory conquest of their gods.
History
Firbolg oral history attributes the founding to Saga, Druid of Dreams, also called "The Fallen One." The birth of a druid is an extremely rare occurrence: only Firbolgs are druids, and druids are seen a spiritual and philosophical leaders for their kind. Once, they say, Saga was a wise and benevolent shaman. Common belief among Kith is that your spirit walks in a different world when your body sleeps, but your body is unable to remember more than brief snippets of your experience there - dreams. Saga could remember her time in the Dreamlands though, and the teachings she brought about the truth of reality astounded her people. But slowly she began to change - she became more aggressive and pessimistic, stating that the true meaning of life was to dominate. Many turned from her teachings, incompatible as they were with all prior druidic teachings (and all teachings to come after, for that matter), but a few remained adherents to her philosophy and retreated to the Obsidian Oldgrowth.Current State
While the Blood Moon Pack has never had as many adherents as it had in its inception, it still has enough members to be a threat to civilization everywhere. It spread out from the Obsidian Oldgrowth in its early days, and there are now several offshoots of the cult across Morgrave, which rarely associate with each other. Unlike many Drifters, most Pack members remain in their "territory," treating it as their lifelong hunting ground. However, some Pack members retain the urge to travel like the rest of their kin; these are the most dangerous of their organization, and constitute a real threat to society, usually villages on the outskirts of society. However, on a blood moon, the Pack is stirred into an unquenchable frenzy to kill. If people are lucky, the Blood Moon Pack will stay within their territory, but Pack members are drawn to assert their dominance on a blood moon, and may make their way to civilization to hunt their favored prey.
