Conrad's Journal

16th of Flamerule, 1486 DR:

In a series of illuminating exchanges with an enterprising troupe of explorers, I have been privy to their recent misadventures in a clandestine lair nestled beneath the sylvan canopy. The lair, presently the domain of goblins, thrust itself into the adventurers' journey in the most unsuspecting manner, ensnaring them through an elaborate trap and immersing them into its secretive world. From their accounts, it becomes increasingly evident that the lair harbors antiquities that extend beyond its present goblin inhabitants.   The lair's existence came to light following an unfortunate brush with a paralyzing potion and presents itself as an intricate puzzle, its origin presumably embedded in antiquity, predating the civilizations of this region. The primary chamber, graced by the statues of the enigmatic figures, Vos and Trella, attests to the historical depth of this subterranean world.   Their journey through the lair was akin to a temporal expedition. Frozen in time, the lair unveils a realm untouched by the continual flux of seasons. Its complex arrangement of rooms, each with its unique purpose, paints a vivid picture of its erstwhile occupants. The presence of a barracks and an alchemist's table, in particular, introduces a level of sophistication that transcends typical goblin establishments.   The heart of the lair's enigma, however, resides within a cryptically sealed chamber. This door, graced by the symbols of a yellow moon, a blue ball, and an orange flame, beckons the possessors of matching gems, a quest that propels our adventurers into a labyrinth of trials, encompassing traps, warg pens, and clashes with goblins.   The labyrinth's denouement unravels in a grand chamber, which serves as the stage for the manifestation of formidable entities from an enigmatic portal. A lich, a skeletal minotaur, and robed figures enter the narrative here, all under the ominous invocation of Lomis, adding a deeper layer of intrigue to this tale.   This chamber's purpose remains ambiguous - it could serve as a summoning ground, a test chamber, or something yet unknown. Regardless, it radiates a potent energy, markedly surpassing the mundanity of the lair's goblin residents.   The lair's self-collapsing structure and elusive entrance and exit further emphasize its protective design. It is as if the lair itself is a guardian, appointed to protect its mysteries, or perhaps, to restrain something within. The tale of this lair, like its creator, is far from over, with more questions than answers at this stage.
