Causes

Although Foci are the only thing that can kill IMPs, there is a very rare chance that an Almiposa will suddenly have an overwhelming urge to eat the IMP they're trying to kill while using it. If they fail to resist this urge, this can develop.

Symptoms

Facial paralysis (can only make one expression), loss of empathy and morality, cracks on the Almiposa's exoskeleton

The insides of the Almiposa eventually mutate and congeal into a gray-black mass, animated by their extremely corrupted soul. The skin of the affected eventually completely shatters, freeing this new form, but without a host, this form dissolves rapidly, leading to death.

Treatment

There is no known cure and the effects are permanent.

Prevention

Overcoming the urge to consume IMPs is possible with proper therapy and support in the disease's early stages, but over time that possibility gets smaller and smaller.

Cultural Reception

In The Great Kaleidoscope, any member that shows any sign of this condition is quietly and quickly discharged - it's rare enough that the GK can afford to "trim the fat," according to them. Almiposa who have left the GK tend to be more sympathetic to victims. IMPs are not the biggest fans of this condition, for obvious reasons.
