Erin Kavanaugh

Erin Kavanaugh is the elder sister of Ta'zhen and a founding member of Ohio Saucer Watch.

Personal history

Erin is the second-oldest child of Martha Kavanaugh, although unlike several of her siblings, she has some memory of her biological father (a one-time local politician and rancher, locally considered "rich"; this is a primary source of Alyssa Kavanaugh's resentment of her). Despite this, she was cognizant of everything happening to her younger siblings, particularly Kayla. She and Kayla were the first to know of her paranormal encounter in a neighbor's wheat field, and she was one of the first to call the police when Martha shoved Kayla into the backyard pool, and still holds a grudge against local police for their inaction in the case.
Erin had also given Kayla the idea to go out to the holler for a bonfire party, although not even she knew where it could lead. She was the second person to meet Saeh'han after her sister, and before Nat Atrella (the latter very briefly, but strongly enough to later chronicle the incident in Debunked). She has a few older photographs of the alien, including two rare images of him without his mask, which found their way into the OSW files along with mountains of security tapes and recorded and transcribed interviews.
When Kayla and the alien disappeared without a trace one day, Erin was among the first to suspect trouble in the search when Martha suggested calling it off (on the reasoning that "she probably ran off with some boy"). Despite her initial grudge with the police department, she reached out to them to save the evidence for the case, on the basis of its potential historical value. The sheriff eventually agreed, but he made it clear that he was releasing the evidence on the grounds that Erin was immediate kin, Martha showed no interest in it, and that the case was considered "closed". Erin and OSW analyzed the evidence, along with their own evidence and interviews, and ultimately uploaded the collection to their website. The security footage, interviews, and other data were shared with William Randall and Nat Atrella as part of joint efforts to investigate this and other UFO questions.
Erin Kavanaugh is among the first to learn from Nat that Kayla is alive, has assumed a new name, and has made a new life for herself.

Religious Views

Erin personally considers herself "open-minded", especially after a childhood encounter with the unknown she had when venturing out into a nearby wheat field well past her bedtime. The encounter terrified her enough into accepting the superstition of avoiding the thing's attention for all future encounters with wheat fields, and has made her more receptive to Cornelius Kavanaugh's fairy faith teachings.

History

Randall reached out to Erin Kavanaugh at Nat Atrella's prompting, whereupon she shared with him her collection of evidence concerning the "Girl Who Ran Away With ET". Erin has continued to keep him updated on the matter, but he has yet to disclose a full opinion on the case, privately admitting he would like to meet this alien for himself. He has freely supplied Erin (and thus Ohio Saucer Watch) with complimentary copies of his books for their review on the assumption that OSW represented a "proponent" group. Erin just as freely commented on the material and asked for further clarification on several points, kicking off cordial relations despite a fundamental initial disagreement on the subject of UFOs and ET. To date, Erin has supplied Randall with almost all of OSW's material on Kavanaugh case for his analysis and opinion.

Commonalities & Shared Interests

Both parties agree that truth must be arrived at by careful examination of the evidence at hand, rather than leaping blindly into the woo. This guiding principle allows the two to work together despite differing foundational premises.
