Ironwood

The strongest ships are made of this steely grey inflammable wood. The methods of shaping it have been an exclusively elven secret only shared once with one human family.

Properties

Material Characteristics

Steely grey and strangely cold for wood, though not as cold as metal. This wood has such close grain that its almost invisible.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Ironwood is incredibly strong, tougher than steel in fact, but also as light as a moderately dense wood. Once shaped it's impossible to set it ablaze and instead if raised to incredibly temperatures, 500 degrees and greater, it will crumble.

Geology & Geography

Found in The Deep Forest around the astra peaks, in the Ever Gloom Forest around the ironback mountains, and most abundantly in the ebonwoods in Drachma.
