Session XXIV: Adventuring in Gildin Report

General Summary

Our Tower is Ours

Scanning the perimeter

The adventurers continue their journey after barely escaping the explosion of blood to the Mage Tower of Gildin. Arriving there, they find a once mighty tower situated on a climbable hill of approximately 15-20 ft. The tower is heavily damaged with no roof covering the place, only part of the 1st floor still stand. On further investigation by John Doe, he discovers the tower was likely ruined through a blast of magic, rather than having withered to time. Balin Thornbow stonecuns the tower was made by human hands, with the southern part looking far weaker than the north part of the tower. Nalan performs a sacred rite, effectively using Divine Sense to discover a weak lifeforce of undead beneath them. After Oswald Fleetfeet finished casting his Detect Magic, the adventurers are brave enough to open the withered latch to the dungeons, which can barely hold Oswald.

Impression of the tower, though the tower in Gildin is much larger   Descending to the tower's cellar, they discover a chained Ghoul at the rear side of the room. John casts Charm Person on the Ghoul, when the ghoul asks them to approach. Reluctantly, John comes closer and hears the ghoul speaking of Thorlok's ritual, with the ghoul wishing for death. While this happens below, Balin warns the others that zombies are approaching from the city. The adventurers take up defensive positions, but soon realize the zombies are nothing more than a distraction. While the zombies approach from the south, a Skull Commander commanding multiple Berenike Knights approaches from the west. A long range shooting contest erupts, with Nalan readying a large boulder to drop off the cliff should a foe approach. Meanwhile, Balin and John continue sniping as Oswald unleashes a Fireball on the zombies.   After taking heavy fire, the skull commander suddenly disappears from view on the battlefield. All but Nalan decide to retreat toward the tower, with Nalan throwing a boulder down on a Berenike Knight. Nalan drops his pants and pees into the undead berenike knight's eye socket, proving massively intimidating. Just before the knight reaches Nalan to take his revenge, Nalan manages to pull up his breeches. In the tower, the adventurers are holding of the zombies when suddenly Oswald is stabbed in the back by the Skull Commander who magically appears. He quickly goes unconscious but the adventurers make short work of him, winning the battle.   Exhausted, the adventurers decide to take a short rest in the tower. When they check up on the ghoul down below, they find its lifeless corpse chained to the wall, with small bite marks in his neck. Thoroughly scanning the room, they find nothing more than a few alchemical supplies such as a mortar, and a broom which even with great examination proves nothing more than a household item. Having rested, they continue their journey toward the Grand Archives of Gildin.
