Obexu

An obexu is a doll carved from wormstone and, like other imozi, is used by a vubopa priest in Ari momiri, the Greatening ritual. Taking time, energy, and skill to carve an obexu, especially one with any detail, is a sign of dedication to Pemija. The artisan must give their bodies to create the obexu, so many consider the obexu to carry a part of the artisan with them forever and are capable of making decisions as if Pemija herself. An obexu must be treated with respect, elsewise the owner may be punished.
