Imperial Province of Harz
The Imperial Province of Harz was established sometime in the 2nd century of Unklar's rule. It was done in response to the recognition that the plain between the VORALBERG MOUNTAINS and the sea was a perfect place to raise the horses and other beasts needed for the ARMY OF UNKLAR.
It had two major military installations. The first was the port fortress of EDENBERG, and the second was the administrative center of WALTENSHAW. Edenberg housed the bulk of the troops, and served as the port and marshalling center for the animals produced. Waltenshaw was in the center of the area, and served as the capital of the GOVERNOR OF HARZ as it provided easy access to the surrounding breeding facilities.
The population of the area was never large, most being sent here by the Imperial Administration to serve in the animal breeding operation. This left the area largely unpopulated and in the end period of the empire it became a place of migration, and left an open area to be claimed and settled. This allowed Baldwin I to bring in his people and found the Kingdom of Aachen.
