Mysterious earthquakes begin to happen in the Lower Chambers of the Underworld. THroughout several centuries, they begin to escalate, until they affect not only the Upper Chambers, but even the Overworld. The Tsunami of Lorellain, for example, is thought to have been caused by the Rumblings.

Mysterious earthquakes begin to happen in the Lower Chambers of the Underworld. THroughout several centuries, they begin to escalate, until they affect not only the Upper Chambers, but even the Overworld. The Tsunami of Lorellain, for example, is thought to have been caused by the Rumblings.   The Rumblings cause a massive exodus in the Underworld. Creatures from the lower levels flee upwards, until they overwhelm the Deranoran outposts and gain access to the Upper Chambers.   When the Gates of Stryke open, vampires manage to flee for their lives through the Gates too, facing the scorching sun in favour of the collapsing Underworld. Dharearna bargains with the Deranorans for her tribe to be allowed through the gates in order to flee the Rumblings, thus causing the existance of the light elves too.
