Ancient Copper Dragon Lair

The Temple

The caves where the Copper dragons live have been carved directly out of the mountainside. The dragons may have been content with this, but their dragonborn Revakaar were not so pleased. Their god deserved better. So they built a temple at the opening of the caves. This is where most of the Revakaar reside when not taking care of their dragons. There are currently five dragons living in Mard Raald. The Ancient Copper, his make an Adult Copper, and their three new hatch-lings. The main chambers of the temple are massive, with a large dias area where the dragons can sit and preen in the sun from the open roof, or climb up the single massive tower to perch on it's top and servey it's territory or spread it's wings and enjoy a much needed flight around the borders. On either side of this massive courtyard are the chambers where the Revakaar spend most of their off time or make preparations for the caring of their dragon Lords.

The Inner Sanctom

Beyond the glittering walls of the temple is the place where the dragons reside. The first impressive cavern is a long walkway that leads deep into the mountain, it is filled with casual displays of the dragon's treasure. Select pieces of their hordes set out for all to admire. Set into the walls of this chamber are hidden doors, secret passages that lead to hidden rooms filled with the dragons real treasure, the most precious of their belongings.   The chamber ends in a massive set of double doors, there is a strange mechanism made up of huge copper chains, a large pulley system set up to open the doors. On either side of the doors stand five Revakaar. They may be guards, or they may just be there to open the doors for the dragons or any visitors they may be graced with.   Inside the Dragon's Chambers is a truely beautiful sight. The walls have been carved out and decorated much like the temple. Water cascades in glittery waterfalls into small pools surrounded by lush vegitation. Strange glowing stones are inlaid in the walls and floors and are draped from the ceilings by more copper chains. The walls themselves are lined with shelves, massive slabs of stone that the dragons can sprawl out on, their wings draping down to the floor to trail in the water or whisper above the trees.   The dragons themselves are spread out around the room. The Adult female is laying under one of the many waterfalls, the water slipping over her scales as five young Revakaar clean and polish her scales. She is currently keeping an eye on the three young wyrmlings tussling in the grass below her bathing shelf.   Her mate sits on the highest shelf, stretched out to his fullest, one of his long wings draped over the side and just barely brushing against the floor. His tail is curling around a crystal spire rising out of the shelf, the tip tapping a slow rhythm onto the stone, the tinkling sound echoing around the chamber.

Purpose / Function

The temple entrance guarding the Ancient Copper dragon's sanctuary. This is where the Copper Revakaar live, work, and worship.

Architecture

The stone and glass palace is mostly a straightforward roman-esk style building, the materials used are what sets it apart. The stone is a bright bone white and the colored glass used has been designed to look like scales when the light hits it just right. All embelishments made on the stones and pillars are created with great care and made out of a mixture of copper, gold, and small gem yellow red and orange gem shards.

History

Mard Raald was built when the Copper dragon living in the caves beyond, at the time a handsome young Adult, mated with his beautiful fiery match. The Revakaar at the time wanted to give them privacy and show their great pleasure with the match. The temple was built to honor their love and stand forever as a testament to their gods and their great devotion.
