The Great Luna Desert

The Great Luna Desert is truly a fascinating place, dotted with hundreds of small, ancient shrines to Luna. However, the pinnacle of this all is the majestic Luna Sanctum and our village, Celeste .
— Archmage Archon

Geography

The Great Luna Desert is a massive expanse of flat sand. There are very few hills, and the hills that do exist move with the wind. The desert is dotted with dunes, and there are frequent sandstorms in parts of the desert. Fresh water is obtained by the numerous natural springs and wells that occur towards the heart of the desert, where the Luna Sanctum can be found.
Aye, The Sea of Sand can be difficult for those not properly prepared. You don't have many creatures to worry about, but the hurricanes of sand and lack of water will soon kill a traveler. There are safe routes, though they're only known by the citizens of Celeste, and hiring a guide can sometimes cost more than a ship.

Fauna & Flora

The Great Luna Desert has very few creatures along the outer edges, however as you get closer to the center you will find small creatures. Plants are almost non-existent until you get close to the village of Celeste.

Plants

Luna Cactus : These cacti are strange plants, as they don't seem to need water to grow, merely moonlight. These cacti bear fruit that is seen as a delicacy by most people, however obtaining some of this fruit can be more trouble than it is worth, as they only grow around ancient Luna shrines and the Luna Sanctum.
Moon Flowers : These flowers grow on and around Luna shrines and the Luna Sanctum. These flowers remain closed during the day, and at night open up. They have inherent magical properties, and ground up Moon Flower petals are often used in potions and other alchemical mixtures.
Lunar Saplings : These odd saplings never seem to grow past the sapling stage, yet still bear fruit. They can be mostly found around the Luna Sanctum, growing over natural underground springs. The Luna Apples harvested from these trees are a delicious and versatile food, able to be cooked in many different ways.
