Mammoth Elk

Basic Information

Anatomy

Large, 9 foot tall elks covered in long, woolen fur, making them appear much thicker than their typical lithe, muscular form. They have large hooves, the size of snowshoes, which allow them to walk on top of deep snowdrifts, and spreading, hooked antlers used for defense against the predators of the wastes.

Genetics and Reproduction

Mammoth Elk have live births after a gestation period of about six months.

Growth Rate & Stages

Faun - Birth to 1 year. Long, gangly limbs and floppy ears, covered in shaggy, shorter fur, speckled with white spots.    Yearling - 1 to 2 years. Fur beginning to become longer and limbs starting to fit. Their spots beginning to fade, and short, velvet covered antlers just beginning to grow.    Young Adult - 2 to 4 years. Virtually full grown, with proper proportions and no spots. Antlers beginning to lose their velvet and spreading out, with points beginning to appear.    Adult - 4 to 10 years. Full grown, antlers fully spreading and in their prime.    Ancient - 10 to 20 years. Antlers continuing to grow larger, but no longer strong and easily broken.
