The Wastes

Geography

The Wastes is a region of ice fields, snowbanks, towering mountains, and frozen rivers. It is covered in thousands of years of ice and snow, the original land and geography long since covered and forgotten. The land is often covered in strange mists and fogs, but when it is clear and the sun is shining, the view is often considered quite beautiful. It is a deceiving beauty, however, for the land is dangerous and deadly, hiding mysterious beasts, dangerous terrain, and freezing weather. Not many can survive in the Wastes, and those that do are hardened, pragmatic people, often considered cruel by outsiders unaware of what it takes to survive such an environment.

Fauna & Flora

Normal plants cannot survive in the freezing temperatures of the wastes, with the only greenery being the mysterious Frostbush, a frozen bundle of sticks somehow surviving in the distant reaches of the Wastes. The creatures that live here are strange and twisted, adapted to the freezing temperatures and harsh environment. Many can see through the fogs and mists blanketing the Wastes, many are venomous, all have terrifying teeth and claws, and all are perfectly camouflaged for their environment. Some say these creatures are the results of experiments during the Mage Era, the leftover abominations of a twisted mind.

History

The Wastes are interesting, for there is no history or records associated with them, yet the remains of some ancient civilization are scattered across the frozen plains. Clear signs of some lost history, now long forgotten.
