Purpose / Function
Barnside farm was a large farm located on the outskirts of Sanine, and provided much of its food supply. Comprising various silos, barns, and warehouses, the farm served not only as a production facility but also a place to store food and to allow people to shelter when storms came in across the plains, or when the lake nearby burst its banks and flooded the city. Many of the buildings had multiple stories for this purpose, and were treated carefully with Preservewrits to keep the water from entering them.
History
Although not much happened for the majority of Barnside's existence, it was the centre for one of the major engagements of the Agriwrit war. The Saninians mustered their forces at Barnside, as it lay on the main road into the city. For a brief period, the farm was the scene of much commotion. The combined forces of the San kingdom, among them several experimental units that would later come to prominence such as flight squadrons and wolfmen. The battle at Barnside is widely believed to have been one of the most intense of the entire war, involving the major armies of the Tolos and San kingdoms. The crops around Barnside were destroyed, and the buildings of the farm were used as a battleground, leading to their bombardment by artillery and ruining.
Tourism
Few travel to the Barnside farm nowadays, as the battle ruined the soil for farming and the area now lies unusable for most purposes. Occasionally scholars will travel to examine the battlefield, or people writing about the battle itself. On occasion, trips from educational institutes go to the farm as well.
