Kingdom of Thebai
Established by Kadmos the Founder, based in the City of Thebai, but spreading over the general region of influence in boundaries that shift over time.
Structure
The king, at the top, is also the chief of chiefs (wanax) and warder of the capitol. His absolute political power is delegated to magistrates, generals, and village chieftains. A separate religious hierarchy also exists.
History
Founded by Kadmos, a Tyrian prince, on the ruins of the city of Ogygia.
Demography and Population
The CIty of Thebai has a Tyrian majority population, including its royal house, with a noble class of Spartoi and a scattering of indigenous Aones, who form the majority population in the towns and villages of the surrounding Theban territory. There are also numerous slaves of a variety of ethnicities.
Previous inhabitants include the Ogygians, who abandoned the city of Ogygia when it was destroyed by a dragon, and perished from the Theban lands in the First Deluge, and the Hyantes, who migrated into the area with the Aones, but fled with the arrival of the Tyrians.
Religion
Along the road from the Neistan gate are three sanctuaries. There is a sanctuary of Themis, with an image of white marble; adjoining it is a sanctuary of [[her daughters], the Moirai (Fates), while the third is of Zeus Agoraios (of the Market).
