Halfling, Ghostwise

Halflings stand about 3 feet tall and usually weigh between 30 and 35 pounds. Their skin is ruddy and their hair is black and straight. They have brown or black eyes. Halflings often have sideburns but beards are rare among them and mustaches are almost unseen.   Ghostwise Halflings look very much like their Lightfoot cousins in stature. Not as nimble as their cousins, some Ghostwise tend be slightly stockier in build. When leaving their treetop villages, they tend to spend most of their time outside in the sun, giving them slightly tanned skins and a light brown hair.

Eslaiqi Ghostwise Halflings

The Lost Saghir: These halflings, or saghir in the Eslaiqi tongue, are odd in that they live far from their original homelands east of the Pendlecrieg Mountains. While it is still largely unknown why exactly it is why they live so far from the Sametsuen region, one thing is known, they thrive in their new home. Within the Chiaroscuro Woods, they have found a niche living up within the tall trees above the flooded forest terrain below. Commonly living in numerous small communities linked through shared trade and community, they live in relative secrecy, tucked away within the swampy woods. It is common for postage and delivery bound for these communities to be collected and taken deeper into unknown communities in the woods, which while originally difficult for the others of Eslaiqeza, the need for privacy has largely been respected and allowed to continue. It is thought that within this isolation and secrecy that these saghir have learned unusual forms of communication, from their common use of sign language to their advanced ability to project their whispers across a room without magic.

Gylidder Ghostwise Halflings

Chosen of Seamfinder: Halflings of this variety are exceedingly rare, but where one is seen there are likely an entire community of others, all drawn closely together out of a sense of community, necessity, and security. Ghostwise halflings came about in many places after halfling communities on weaker leylines were beset upon by the Brume during the Age of Isolation, forced to live quietly and in the shadow of monsters. While scholars agree that many more groups likely exist within it, several townships of these halflings exist within the protected borders of Gylidd, just within the edges of the Brume. One such community - the township of Varleef - rests near the heart of the Petrified Wood, cloaked in the long shadows of the leafless trees. Their mayor is Fosco Deadwhistle, a retired and wealthy veteran of the Gylidder Guard.
