Orc
Orcs are remarkably similar to prehistoric humans, although they are more naturally inclined towards athleticism and hardiness considering their origin as fungal humanoid hybrids. Orcs are by no means unintelligent, infact they possess a genetic memory that makes them capable of retaining the basic skills learned by their ancestors. They stand taller than humans, with denser bones and sharp teeth.
Orc governing bodies are similar to sports team mentality typically displaying extreme devotion to their tribe with strong rivalries towards one another for reasons ranging from petty to significant. Their customs encourage confrontation, and strength to measure power and worth with one another.
The origin of Orcs comes from the most ancient of human lineages. An early wave of Humans taken to Na'Endreth was unhealthy condemned to failure. An experimental retrovirus infected the population meant to enhance durability regressed the humans into neanderthal states. Fortunately Kana the goddess of plagues became the accidental savior of the species, by infecting them with a symbiotic mold. With the intention of wiping them out, the mold instead fused with the humans creating the first human/ fungus hybrid known today as Orc. Left alone for some time, in quarentine they emerged a fully compatible new species.
Orc society reveares ancenstral might. A powerful artifact said to house the souls of previous cheiftens holds many orcs under a unifying banner. This solidarity allows orcs to uphold an age of olympic renaissance. Every Orc shares a profound connection with their ancestry, respecting the spirits of their blood line as a source to their strength. Many do not see death as a setback, only welcoming their future in the halls of the God of Hunts. They see the principles that define them and their deities at work every day in the world around them — nature rewards the strong and mercilessly eliminates the weak and the infirm.
Orcs don’t revere their gods as much as they fear them; every tribe has superstitions about how to avert their wrath or bring their favor. This deep-seated uncertainty and fear comes forth in the form of routine and practice to appease the gods in order to avoid their terrible retribution.
Apart from Divine worship many Orcs follow the animal spirits known as Loa. Seeing them as spiritual guides, Omens, and powerful beings to be respected. Serving as the bridge between the tribes are the priests of these Loa, keeping the warriors from butting heads.
