Hemming Hjalmarssen
Hemming Hjalmarssen was born to Hjalmar Gunnarssen and Astrid Torstensblod in Reknigrad. His father, Hjalmar, was the warchief of the Trostani tribe from AK 198 until his death in AK 229, when Hemming ascended to chiefdom in his place. For the next 18 years, Hemming led the Trostani to numerous victories in war against rival tribes, until in AK 249 when he decided the tribes finally had to be united under one ruler for the first time in nearly a thousand years.
Hemming began gathering loyal tribes to his side, beginning with the First Five: the Sitcimri, the Volodov, the Arsivagi, the Alemerni, and the Medvedev. One by one, these first six tribes began converting other tribes to their agenda, bringing them to heel via force, or waging open war against them.
By the end of the Unification Wars, Hemming had won and united the nation of Nordmark under a single High King.
In the seventeen years since the end of the wars, Hemming has ushered in a new age of prosperity, security, and diplomacy.
However, there are many who believe that Hemming merely parrots other cultures in an attempt to fit in with the royalty and nobility of other nations, and that the Nordmarker identity has been lost in this transition.
